Domestic Franchise

The Domestic Franchise segment consists of the Company�� domestic store franchise operations. This segment derives revenue principally from initial development and franchise fees related to new stores and from royalties on sa! les by franchise stores. As of February 3, 2013, there were 142 domestic franchise stores in 29 states, consisting of 99 factory and 43 satellite stores.

International Franchise

The International Franchise segment consists of the Company�� international store franchise operations. International franchise stores sell doughnuts and complementary products almost exclusively through the on-premises sales channel using shop formats similar to those used in the United States, and also using a kiosk format. A portion of sales by the franchisees in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia are made to wholesale customers. As of February 3, 2013, there were 509 international franchise shops in 21 countries, consisting of 120 factory stores and 389 satellite shops.

KK Supply Chain Business Segment

The Company operates an integrated supply chain. The KK Supply Chain segment buys and processes ingredients it uses to produce doughnut mixes and manufactures doughnut-making equipment that all factory stores are required to purchase. The Company manufactures doughnut mixes at its facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In addition to traditional doughnut mixes and mixes made from mix concentrate, the Company produces or manages the production of doughnut premix, which is used to produce doughnut mixes in certain international locations. The KK Supply Chain segment also purchases and sells supplies, including icings and fillings, other food ingredients, juices, signage, display cases, uniforms and other items to both Company and franchisee-owned stores.

    McCormick & Co. McCormick & Co., one of the best known names in the spice business, is recalling a batch of ground oregano because it might be contaminated with salmonella, the Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday. The recall involves small containers (0.75 ounce size) of McCormick ground oregano with a UPC code on the label of 0-523561-6 and was "Best By" dates of Aug. 21, 2016 and Aug. 22, 2016. They appear on the labels with this code: "BEST BY AUG 21 16 H" and "BEST BY AUG 22 16 H." McCormick (MKC) said the recall is limited to those specific containers, which were shipped in 1,032 cases to 41 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and several countries. The oregano was shipped between April 4 and Aug. 5. Salmonella bacteria can make anyone sick, but the illness is particularly dangerous to young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. And even a healthy person who gets infected with the organism is likely to have a fever and suffer abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. The FDA said it has not received any reports of consumers getting sick from the oregano. The contamination was discovered by the FDA during routine testing. McCormick said grocery stores have been notified to remove the products from their shelves and distribution centers and destroy them. If you have the recalled oregano, you're urged to get rid of it and the container, and contact McCormick at 1-800-632-5847, weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time to get a replacement, a refund or ask any questions. You don't need to return it to the store where you purchased it.

    Kurzius will take the position July 1, the company announced today. He will be responsible for McCormick's global consumer business, along with a number of corporate tasks such as IT, R&D, and quality assurance.     A risk involved with the company is that its Republic Bank & Trust business derives 78% of its net income from TRS, which offers bank products that help get customers who electronically file their tax returns their payments. RB&T is only of the few financial institutions in the U.S. that provide the service. Under the program, the taxpayer may receive a Refund Anticipation Loan (RAL), which has been questioned by various governmental and consumer groups. In May 2011, RB&T received an order to cease and desist which could result in an order by the FDIC to terminate its RAL program. It has a hearing on Feb. 12, 2012 in Kentucky regarding the matter.
